the AMMY V journey – FOOD!

Go ahead. Go ahead and mock that I look fat in the photos. (That’s you, Eng Teck, I am referring to) But the food, was marvelous!

Imagine. An event for the ASEAN ministers and delegates. How could Singapore, as the organizer, scrooge on the food?

By the way, I just looked fat in the photos. I did not gain any weight. Fortunately. It’s just the photos.

Here’s the food list we had.

Tuesday Evening: Buffet at MOS
Great pasta. Great Mutton Kebab. Great Sushi. Great Chocolate-hazelnut Cake. Great Mango Pudding.

Wednesday:
10am break, 12 noon lunch, 3pm break.
Great cheesecake. Great chocolate cake.

Wednesday social program:

Dinner at Shiraz @ Clarke Quay. Wonderful Persian food. Great Grilled Meat.
img_9021.JPG
There’s belly dancing with the dinner too! One of the NYC staff commented that the dance is better than the ‘Dance Floor’!

Thursday:
Lunch with the ASEAN ministers and delegates. Wonderful 5 course meal. Did not manage to take the pictures.
img_9088.JPG
One of the dessert they served during tea.

Look at the array of chocolates on display! My favorite (the almond covered in chocolate) is there too!

Thursday Evening:
ASEAN night. Buffet at Legends @ Fort Canning Park. Do I need to mention more on the food?
img_9094.JPG
We did a very ‘Uniquely Singapore’ behavior. We put a tissue to ‘chope’ our seat! Ha ha! No lah. It’s just for fun. We are assigned tables anyway.
Friday:
Lunch again with the ASEAN ministers and delegates.
img_9131.JPG
Appetizer:Salmon and avocado thingy. But the sesame crust is great and fragrant!
img_9136.JPG
Soup: Sweet & Sour summer vegetable soup. We just call it ‘tom yum’. ha ha.
img_9139.JPG
Main course: Grilled chicken breast with asparagus with sweet potato mash. And with a wonderful sauce on it.

img_9148.JPG
Dessert: Warm chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream.

Oei, Eng Teck, with all these temptation around, how can I not ‘looked’ fat in the photos and yet, manage not to gain any weight? *lol*

Withdrawal Symptons

Mary told me that what I suffered yesterday night was just withdrawal symptons.

collage41.jpg

I don’t deny that. Yes. I think I am suffering from AMMY Withdrawal Syndrome.

collage5.jpg

This is just a preview. Would do a detailed entry soon. Definitely. Since I have a tons of 美国时间 to do it now. Ha ha.

CLEAR!

DIE!!

Wanted to take tons of pictures today during my FYP (Final Year Project) presentation, but in the end, we were too busy throwing smoke bomb that I totally forgotten about it. So… ladies and gentlemen, what I can present is the pictures of our group and some screen shot of our project.
collage3.jpg

Anyway, it was a wonderful presentation, although a lot of smoke bomb been thrown, however, unlike my other modules, these smoke were thrown reasonably and logically. Apparently, the professors were IMPRESSED by our presentation, AND our work. Which was wonderful.

It was an unexpected turn of events, since it was just 2.5 weeks ago when the whole group was damn demoralized because our evaluators mentioned that our project was ‘not up to standard’. However, as we mentioned during the presentation today, CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT. Things happened and with a strange twist in event, we managed to climb up from our dump and emerge VICTORY today!

Guess it is the rule of the underdog wins. YET AGAIN.

My Holiday: Day 2

Oops… This is a long overdue entry…. I am supposed to do this entry centuries ago… but only recently when I install Picasa… (I know… late boomer… but not because I don’t know, but I don’t want to… but I guess for the sake of blogging and to kill many birds (ie photos) with 1 stone… That would be the best solution.

Text adapted from Jane’s blog. (Jane… in the end.. I took your text… not your pics… lol)
From the Asia Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference, I got to know Yi Hsing from Taoyuan. She was so nice to host us for our trip this time.

When you are in Ximending, how can you not miss the famous Ah Zhong Mian Xian? In a nutshell, it’s rice vermicelli noodles, with pig’s intestines/oyster in a thick brown gravy. After taking a mouthful… Woah! It’s heaven!!!! Singapore’s Mee Sua cannot compare to the original Taiwan’s Ah Zhong Mee Sua! Although over the shop, we have to stand and enjoy since there is no chairs or tables…but hey…who’s complaining when its such a delicious food. Be Warned..the Queue is long!!

There is so much food in Ximending as it is quite a hugee area..so be prepare to have enough room to stomach. List of food that I consumed to be tabulate later.

After in the afternoon, it’s the obligatory tourist trip to Taipei 101! Damn it, it’s damn tall! As you can see, I have to lie on the ground in order to take a full view of the building.. But what the heck… no one knows me anyway!

To go up to the highest level of Taipei 101 which is also the viewing gallery, we took the life which could take us up within 40seconds. Even taking the life is an entertaining experience….

collage2.jpg

Dinner time! How can you not go to Taiwan’s famous night market? So makan, makan and more makan! We ate sweet potatoes, taiwan sausages, fried food, donuts before settling ‘dinner’. Actually, not much of dinner, but more snacks! So, we had Spicy (Ma La)Smelly Tofu! Surprising, it is not as smelly as I had eaten before in Singapore… in fact, I enjoyed it! *lol*
After visiting Taipei 101, we stopped by a donut cafe and Macs for a snack. After that, we went to one of the night markets of Taipei…woah …more food….As we walked along the night market…we snacked on taiwan sausages, fried snacks and finally settled down to a tiny eating place that specializes in Smelly Tofu. I was surprised that the smelly tofu here is not as pungent as those I had in Singapore. It is more palatable and it taste quite good. We ordered a normal tofu and spicy tofu. After walking a bit more, we headed to Cheng Ping, a 24 hour bookstore and that’s where i got a jap 3d book as a belated birthday present.

After that, we headed back to the hotel for a good night rest.

It’s SINfully DELICIOUS!!

krispy_kreme.jpgThanks to Ellen from LTB/LTM, I finally had a chance to taste the famous, legendary KRISPY KREME!

And after trying it, I had finally understood the fuss and the popularity of this famous donut. It is DAMN delicious~! (Even though the dough nut is 1 day ago. Whatever.)

Imagine: The moment you bite into the donut, the sugar rushes through the brain, giving you an immediate adrenaline rush and making you ask for more! Fortunately (or not), there’s only one for everyone.

However, thank goodness there’s only one. Think of the calories! (Just checked krispy kreme website. 1 original glazed dough nut contains *ahem* only 200 calories… Which is still acceptable. As long as you don’t eat 10 in a day. Which is the daily maximum calories intake for an adult)

Meanwhile, I shall settle for local doughnuts. Which is NOT DONUT FACTORY. Which I heard from friends who queued (longest record, 4.5 hours, *hey hey* you know who you are ;P), mentioning that it has been over-rated. As for my source of dough nuts? Why should I tell you? I don’t want to risk the possibility that I would need to queue for the donuts. I love my donuts, and I am intending to keep it a secret. *bbbbwwwwaaahhhaaa!!*

img_0193.jpgimg_0192.jpg
Meanwhile… enjoy the donuts I had in Taipei!!!!

Merry Xmas!

Hey folks~~

I will be out of town from 21 December to 31 December~~

Would check my e-mail regularly (that is, me@limyishun.net), or you can contact me at my mobile (auto-roaming… but don’t abuse it folks!)

Meanwhile, Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year 2007!

It Pays To Be A Glutton

photo-0199.jpgIt has been a long time since I have been there.

However, due to a twist of fate (or rather, a twist in the eccentric weather during December), Max and I went to The V Tea Room for some relaxation.

And ended up with my all time favourite, the Turkish Apple Tea, and the melt cake!

However, instead of having my usual mango melt cake today, I tried another favor with contains 2 of the fatal ingredients that can ‘kill’ me: Chocolate and Cheese!

Wah!!! This chocolate cheese melt cake literally melt me~~! The thick dark chocolate cake with the dark chocolate melt, and having cheese cubes in the cake~~ woah~~ this is so sinful that I will willing to die for it! However, I forgot the name of the cheese that is inside (but what I remembered that it is some sort of creamy cheese) but it is F-A-B-ulous!

As usual, the store manager (I guess) Amy was there with her megawatts smile and excellent service which makes your day~! I was so impressed with her where she can actually remembers the likes and dislikes of her customers despite of the number of customers she has everyday! GEMS should present her an award for setting the standard, or rather exceeding the standard in the service industry!

Anyway, had a haircut by Max, which was, in my humble opinion (I was telling a friend how I wanted to put this phase down, so fun *lol*), excellent and wonderful! However, forgot to take a photo of my hair, which I shall do it in due time soon.

Anyway, was a great day, at V Tea Room, and talking nonsense and bickering nonsense with Max today. It was a damn great day especially when we had not meet up for sooooooooooo looooooooooong.

Anyway, *8* mooooooooooooore days~~~~~

It’s finally here!!!!!
