Last Entry

This could be the last blog entry in limyishun.net.

4 years, 8 months and 26 days (28 April 2003) since my first ‘recorded’ entry (My first entry is far far earlier than this, say 2001, but I had lost the record), this blog, limyishun.net is, and could be going to the end.

Before you guys go into a panic and start asking me what’s wrong or anything bad happened, don’t worry, I am fine.

This decision, is purely a commercial reason.

Frankly speaking, a huge part of me doesn’t want this blog to go. This blog, has been accompanying me over these few years, watched me smile, cry and grow up. Memories recorded and archived at limyishun.net.

I am trying to find a suitable new home for this blog. Afterall, I can’t just ‘delete’ almost 5 years worth of memories, right?

Will keep you guys updated.

the AMMY V journey – FOOD!

Go ahead. Go ahead and mock that I look fat in the photos. (That’s you, Eng Teck, I am referring to) But the food, was marvelous!

Imagine. An event for the ASEAN ministers and delegates. How could Singapore, as the organizer, scrooge on the food?

By the way, I just looked fat in the photos. I did not gain any weight. Fortunately. It’s just the photos.

Here’s the food list we had.

Tuesday Evening: Buffet at MOS
Great pasta. Great Mutton Kebab. Great Sushi. Great Chocolate-hazelnut Cake. Great Mango Pudding.

Wednesday:
10am break, 12 noon lunch, 3pm break.
Great cheesecake. Great chocolate cake.

Wednesday social program:
img_9006.JPG
Dinner at Shiraz @ Clarke Quay. Wonderful Persian food. Great Grilled Meat.
img_9021.JPG
There’s belly dancing with the dinner too! One of the NYC staff commented that the dance is better than the ‘Dance Floor’!

Thursday:
Lunch with the ASEAN ministers and delegates. Wonderful 5 course meal. Did not manage to take the pictures.
img_9088.JPG
One of the dessert they served during tea.
img_9085.JPG
Look at the array of chocolates on display! My favorite (the almond covered in chocolate) is there too!

Thursday Evening:
ASEAN night. Buffet at Legends @ Fort Canning Park. Do I need to mention more on the food?
img_9094.JPG
We did a very ‘Uniquely Singapore’ behavior. We put a tissue to ‘chope’ our seat! Ha ha! No lah. It’s just for fun. We are assigned tables anyway.
Friday:
Lunch again with the ASEAN ministers and delegates.
img_9131.JPG
Appetizer:Salmon and avocado thingy. But the sesame crust is great and fragrant!
img_9136.JPG
Soup: Sweet & Sour summer vegetable soup. We just call it ‘tom yum’. ha ha.
img_9139.JPG
Main course: Grilled chicken breast with asparagus with sweet potato mash. And with a wonderful sauce on it.

img_9148.JPG
Dessert: Warm chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream.

Oei, Eng Teck, with all these temptation around, how can I not ‘looked’ fat in the photos and yet, manage not to gain any weight? *lol*

the AMMY V journey

I guess many of you would have known what I had been up to during the past few days based on my previous entries.

idcard.jpg

I like this photo of mine. Ok, Jack the Intern has a great flair in his photography skills. Of course, the person has to be great in order for the photo to look great too. Ha ha!

Volunteering as a Liaison Officer for AMMY V5th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting On Youth, that is. This is the first time Singapore is hosting this meeting, and this meeting, marks the first time where the +3 countries, namely, China, Japan and Korea joins in the meeting to discuss about issues relating to youth. I am assigned to be the liaison officer for the delegations from Thailand.
img_9147.JPG
So this is Jack, in the middle. And that’s Atiqah on the right. He is the LO for Cambodia and Atiqah, Indonesia. And yes, he is the one who took the photo on our ID card.

Our duties, as Youth LO, is to assist the Staff LO (who is the staff in NYC/MCYS) in ensuring that the delegations needs are taken care into.
img_9089.JPG
Our staff LO, is Samantha, which I say, was a great Staff LO! She take cares of us very well, and she is very ‘steady’ in her duties. Some other Youth LOs sang praises of her too!

Shall continue tomorrow. It took me half an hour just for this entry! *exhausted*

AMMY Preview

This is just an AMMY Preview.

Before you get confused, AMMY is ASEAN Ministerial Meeting for the Youth, which is currently held from 24 August to 27 August.

Today is the Opening Ceremony, where PM Lee was the Guest of Honour of the ceremony. I guess many heard about the $5 million Singapore ASEAN Youth Fund through the news.

Anyway, today is the ASEAN night dinner where Dr Vivian Balakrishnan was the guest of honour. We had great fun taking photos all around man!

img_91012.jpg

Of course, Mr Teo Ser Luck is there as he is the Parliament Secretary to Dr Vivian. A lot of the gals are ga-ga-ing over him. *lol*
img_90822.jpg

Well, I managed to take a picture with my idol, Dr Vivian, of course!

img_9118.JPG

Jane! This photo is for you! She is Ms Park Youn Ok, Heidi, the Deputy Director (International Exchange Team, Youth Policy Bureau), National Youth Commission, Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea. Her costume is very beautiful!

That’s all about it for now currently. More to be updated after my duties are over!

Surprises.

Actually, only 2 surprises.

Surprise #1

It was supposed to be a surprise birthday celebration for Dave.

The ‘gang’ (namely, Clarence, Jwo Shyang, Xuehui and June, and me, of course) had planned a ‘surprise’ birthday celebration for Dave.

The plan was to bake a cake for him (it was my last paper, while they finished their papers), and I will meet Dave after the exam (The others had made excuses to ensure they are ‘unavailable’ the whole afternoon. In the end, had to use the excuse of killing time to meet Dave in order to ensure he doesn’t reach there earlier. Also, to have more control in the planning since the ‘victim’ is with me. *lol*). Afterwhich, we will go to the KTV to celebrate the end of our papers.

Everything was going well. Dave and me reaches the KTV at 6.30pm while the rest was there at 6pm.

However, what I did not expect was it was a double celebration! They had planned this celebration with me in mind too! (ha ha! *shy*) I was ‘tricked’ into the entire ‘con game’ too! And Dave knows about some of it too!

img_0043.jpg
This is the birthday cake that they bake! It tastes great too, btw.

img_0047.jpg
The other birthday boy, Dave.

img_0075.jpg
Don’t ask me, I just have the urge to upload this picture. Those who know will know!

img_0073.jpg
The 4 shuai ges. Ha ha! The picture is blurred due to the result of 3/4 bottle of vodka and 1 bottle of ice wine!

img_0079.jpg
Blur! We asked someone who take this picture, which I guess he’s drank too!

Anyway, thanks folks for the ‘surprise’! *lol* And the present! *lol*

Surprise #2

This is a VERY BIG surprise to me indeed.

One of my school mate, Duke, told me this 2 days ago.

msn.jpg

“u can write pretty well”

Of all compliments I got all my life, this is the first time I was told that I can write pretty well! *ha ha*

Well, I shall strive to write better posts for my blog, Duke! Anyway, I don’t mind more compliments! No one will reject compliments, I supposed?

What Did You Do When You Are 3?

I don’t know either.

How do you celebrate a birthday for a 3 year old? I don’t know.

It have been centuries since I celebrated my 3 years old birthday.

By the way, it has been 3 years since I began blogging! (Actually, I guess it’s older, but the archives I have begins from April 2003, so we take this date has my blogging start date.)

It has been a long time… From ‘Jerry & the City’ to ‘Life As Jerry’… Perhaps it’s time to take on a new identity…. tonk&JERRY!

It wasn’t really my shop. But the shop of my favourite ice-cream… Ben&Jerry’s!!
Yes! You can get fresh B&J’s ice-cream now off a parlour, instead of those frozen tubs of ice-cream off the supermarket!! Cheerio to the guy who bought in the franchise into Singapore! (Although I had forgotten your name even thou you were on paper some weeks ago)

However, due to the huge crowd and reaching closing time (that’s explains the shutter coming down), I did not get to savour the marvellous, heavenly ice-cream.. Do they have my favourite ‘New York Chunky Fudge’ (or sometime like that)? Shall go and enjoy it someday… although it’s going to kill my diet!

Anyway, celebrated Dione’s birthday during the week. Actually it was an impromptu one for me. Some of us happened to be in school for our project discussion, and Phelicia and Robin informed us that they are celebrating Dione’s birthday and called the rest of us along. It was fun and did I mention that the cake was simply delicious!!! It was a macadamia cake, and the size of the cake, (quote unquote from what I said on that day), was bigger than Dione’s face!! Anyway, it was delicious with the macadamia nuts, cream and white chocolate. How can I forget that the icing of the cake tasted like the ‘Rabbit’s Candy’ that we love to eat when we were young (actually, still lovin’ it..)? Orh, did I told you that the cake is from ‘Secret Recipe’ and they are having a 50% discount on whole cakes and ’1 for 1′ special for slices? (well, I do not know whether the promotion is over or not)

Well well, it is seldom that I post photos of my school mates, and so… here it is!
